Spelling

We believe that a firm foundation in spelling enables children to read more fluently and write with more confidence.

Spelling is therefore practised daily in 15-minute sessions. The spelling sessions cover words which are part of our weekly spelling lists, including: words with letter combinations, prefix and suffix words, maths vocabulary words and common exception words. Children are also taught spelling rules, which they can then apply to their writing.
