Cherry Grove Primary School Maths
Cherry Grove has adopted a Mastery approach to teaching Maths. When taught to master Maths, children develop their mathematical fluency without resorting to rote learning and are able to solve non-routine maths problems without having to memorise procedures.
Our Mathematicians
Knowledge: A mathematician at Cherry Grove is fully equipped with the knowledge to confidently approach age-appropriate mathematical questions and problem solving.
Skills: Children will develop skills in problem-solving, arithmetic, reasoning and the ability to build mental images of problem-solving scenarios.
Experiences:Our career and maths in the local area event, times table challenges, Math’s Day, our participation in quizzes, our school environment and our school links, are all key to nurture our children’s skills in arithmetic and reasoning.
