From time to time, we all need additional support in our learning journey, to help us understand a new concept or learn a new skill. Our teachers are very skilled at recognising this and intervening early so that a small misunderstanding doesn‟t become a major barrier. This is part of the high quality teaching we provide every day.For some children, there are significant barriers to learning which require more formal and structured additional support. We have a highly experienced and effective Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), who is a senior member of staff. She helps class teachers to assess the needs of children and ensure extra support is provided so that they can have access to the curriculum and make good progress. We have a team of highly experienced and trained Teaching Assistants, who help to deliver this support to the children and we also employ the services of specialist professionals for specific issues, such as dyslexia or emotional and behavioural support. We include parents in the planning and delivery of any
additional support. The SENCO also identifies children who need additional challenge, because they are
working at a level which is much higher than usually expected of their age. Opportunities are provided for enrichment activities for these children. Teachers' planning and the children‟s progress are monitored to ensure that their needs are met.
All pupils are expected to try their hardest to achieve their personal best. We provide a highly personalised, creative and exciting curriculum which engages pupils and allows them to develop their skills and talents.
Nessy - Nessy is a great website which supports and provides an individualised training programme for children with reading difficulties. It helps to improve spelling and also areas such as memory, ordering and sequencing. Parents will have to register and some of the games are free to play.
